Farmer Family

Friday, October 7th, 2011

Finding a fun couple costume for my husband and me has always been an adventure. In the past we’ve gone as Robin Hood and a medieval knight (fun because we both got to wield plastic weapons – a bow and arrow for me and a sword for my him), sailors (technically, I went as Shirley Temple but in a sailor dress), and as toys (I was a rag doll and he was Woody from Toy Story).

Things were complicated by the arrival of our daughter last year. At Halloween she was four months old, and we weren’t up for wild and crazy Halloween shenanigans. Instead, we did a fall festival “family fun” type event. We dressed Ruby in a pig costume, and my husband and I donned overalls and straw hats as farmers. It worked well, since I had too much post-pregnancy pudge for anything fancy. We were comfortable, and everywhere we went got big reactions … though I think all the “awwwww, how cutes” were for Ruby!

2008 Dreamgirl Costumes

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

This year we’ve greatly expanded our selection of Dreamgirl costumes, including some of the sexiest, cheekiest adult and plus size costumes available! See them all – favorites and new items – in our Dreamgirl Costumes section!

My favorite 2008 Dreamgirl costume is the Sexy Private Jet Captain, reminiscent of 1960s stewardess uniforms. Check out the cute white gloves with little polka dot bows!

Pair it with one of our Pilot Costumes for a terrific couple costume!

Going on a Three-Hour Tour?

If you’re going to a 60′s party or just want a fun couple costume, you could dress up as the characters from Gilligan’s island. The show was on the air from 1964 to 1967, so these are perfect for 60′s party costumes. And Gilligan’s Island costumes are ideal if you’re looking for something recognizable, campy, and a little unexpected.

There are lots of options for combinations, too – Mary Ann and Gilligan, Skipper and Gilligan, Professor and Ginger, Thurston Howell III and Lovie. Or you could get together several friends and go as a group. Throw in a few island natives, astronauts and celebrity guest stars to round out the group!

And remember all the great stuff they made out of coconuts and palm fronds? You could carry around a coconut shaped drinking cup to add a little island-castaway authenticity to your costume.

See our Gilligan’s island Costumes page for the whole gang!
